Somwhere Over the Rainbow

This editorial was shot back in January of this year (2010), but was only finished in October.
I took on the challenge of drawing the cartoonish dimension to impose the figure as merely a mode of creative interest outside of the normal photography, then followed by some simple retouching. The cartoon spaces underwent several developments, from just mere matching of colours, to a repetition of patterns, to what you are seeing now. The final development of the cartoon environment came when the editor of XO magazine suggested that the images would best suit the theme of the publication with a more surreal approach; hence the final images.

For the tech savy photographers, I work with a Wacom intuos tablet and an IMac 27 quad core and images were shot with a Nikon D300 and a nikkor 17-55 f2.8 lens.

I'm definitely looking forward to doing another project such as this one. Let me know what you think about the publication.

SPLASH AWAY, SHE Caribbean Mag (Summer Issue 2010)

Latest publication in SHE Caribbean Magazine with Designs by Catalin Botezatu

This shoot was done for She magazine in 2009 and was published a year later.
It was quite memorable and exciting as it was my second shoot of the day.
I remember being so caught up in the shoot i neglected to eat properly so during the shoot i fainted. Oh yes it was memorable. would I do it again? Definately because these are the stories to tell. hope you like the post.

Gaga Fresh!!!

AGAIN another one of Dexter's crazy ideas for a shoot that was Lady Gaga inspired. I find that personal  projects such as these strengthen your team as there is no pressure or rule and one gets to explore just being the creative person he or she is. Also without the pressure comes the ease of making what I phrase as the 'necessary mistake'. Mistakes on a test shoot informs newer ideas and approach to your photography, makeup etc.. By the way tests are the best place to make mistakes and not on a job because making that error may cost you the client.

What I took away from this shoot was mainly how to keep it simple to facilitate styling which is not so
keep on test shooting so you can grow. hope you enjoy the post
